In an effort to raise awareness about dangerous trucking companies in America, easy step-by-step guides have been developed to enable drivers, victims of truck accidents, and lawyers to identify unsafe motor carriers. SafeStat, short for Motor Carrier Safety Measurement System, is an automatic data driven system that calculates safety fitness for motor operators. The data is managed and managed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), which establishes laws governing the trucking industry. How can I access this report? 1. Go to http://safersys.org/ - This is the FMCSA Electronic Safety & Fitness System Web page. Note when you access the site, there is a warning at the top, please note that this warning is only intended to advise on the distribution of their data. This site is for general use. 2. Scroll down to "FMSCA Search" and click "SafeStat Online" 3. Under the tab "Find a Single Carrier" enter the name of the truck carrier company and / or USDOT ID # 4. Click "Search" and a list of trucking companies will appear 5. Click on the operator you are looking for 6. As you can see there are six tabs at the top of the results. Each tab contains data about certain accidents, deaths or injuries, driver information, vehicle inspections, and safety violations. There is also a "history" tab that shows trends in this data. 7. If you are an accident victim, be sure to visit the Accident tab. This home page shows the number of vehicles that have accidents resulting in injury or death. Click the "View Detailed Data" icon at the bottom right which leads to a detailed vehicle accident history. This list is sorted by most recent date. After you find the accident, click the number link on the far left of the data row. This detailed report shows the police report number, road conditions, road type, quotes, and driver information. 8. Three-year safety reports can and must be ordered by anyone involved in a truck collision.
